VoiceGenie Announces Winners of Its $20,000 Developers Contest
VoiceGenie Technologies Inc., a Promoter Member of the VoiceXML Forum, recently announced the winners of the VoiceGenie VoiceXML Developers' Challenge. Participants were challenged to create a VoiceXML application over a two month period. All submissions were judged on functionality, originality, ease-of-use, richness, responsiveness, usefulness and reliability. In first place receiving $10,000 for his application entitled "Who wants to be a Villionaire?" was Rishi Malhotra of Toronto, Canada. Malhotra's application is a voice (hence the V in the spelling of Villionaire) spin-off of the popular "Who wants to a Millionaire" game show.

Jiffy Lube to Use VoiceXML for Its Voice-Enabled Reminder Service
Jiffy Lube International announced that it will use VoiceXML to build a mobile, voice-enabled oil change reminder service. The company's new m-commerce initiative will promote the telephone as a new permission-based customer relationship channel and will add speech recognition and an opt-in automated oil change alert feature to Jiffy Lube's CRM strategies. The "My Jiffy Lube Reminder" program will start at Jiffy Lube's 49 stores in the Houston, Texas, in mid-February, and eventually will be available at other locations.
